Kyrgyzstan considers WHO as main partner in development of health care

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with the Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe Hans Kluge. The press service of the president reported.

The parties exchanged views on WHO activities and continuation of further cooperation in the field of health care aimed at improving the health of the population of the republic.

The President stressed that Kyrgyzstan highly appreciates the activities of the organization and attaches great importance to further strengthening of comprehensive cooperation. He noted that the health care sector is one of the main priorities of the state, and told about the program «Healthy People — Prosperous Country» implemented in the country, designed for the period of 2019-2030. Its goal is to protect people’s health, develop the health care system and primary health care infrastructure.

The head of state outlined the positive experience of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and WHO in reforming the health sector, training medical personnel, protecting the health of mothers and children, as well as implementing comprehensive reforms in the treatment of a number of diseases.

Sadyr Japarov emphasized that the Kyrgyz side considers WHO as its main partner in the development of health care.

Hans Kluge stressed that WHO supports the actions of states and societies aimed at improving the health and well-being of the population, in particular, he positively noted the plans of Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the Program on Public Health Protection. He added that digitalization is very important for the development of medicine, and WHO is ready to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan in this direction.

At the end of the conversation, the Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe proposed Kyrgyzstan to take over the chairmanship in 2024 for the implementation of the roadmap to support health and well-being in Central Asia for 2022-2025.
