Evaluation of laboratory testing quality underway in Kyrgyzstan

The Center for Quality Control of Laboratory Testing for Infectious Diseases evaluates the quality of testing for 14 diseases, including COVID-19. The Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund of Kyrgyzstan (CMIF) reported.

According to the senior researcher Tatyana Kuchuk, specialists annually travel to the regions and conduct an external evaluation of the quality of laboratory testing for 14 types of infectious diseases. This year, a quality evaluation program for coronavirus has been developed and launched for the first time.

The center’s experts evaluated the quality of laboratory testing for HIV, viral hepatitis, syphilis, brucellosis and other infectious diseases in Issyk-Kul and Chui region. They evaluated maternity hospitals and websites of non-governmental organizations that conduct express HIV testing.

It is noted that the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Quality Control of Laboratory Testing for Infectious Diseases is launching a new training program taking into account the epidemiological situation in the country and the world.
