Parliamentary elections could be held on October 31 in Kyrgyzstan

Parliamentary elections could take place on October 31 in Kyrgyzstan. Deputy Dastan Bekeshev announced on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the law on elections will be submitted to the Parliament one of these days. «There are two very progressive norms. The first imposes a ban on participation in elections, in campaigning for household supervisors and chairmen of Property Owners Associations. The second, if an official decides to run, he or she should not just suspend duties for the period of the campaign, but resign,» Dastan Bekeshev said.

He also added that the bill on elections assumes that the Parliament will be formed based on the lists of political parties (55 mandates) and single-mandate constituencies (35 mandates). According to the previous version of Constitution and the current law on the election of deputies to the Parliament, deputies are elected on the lists of political parties in the amount of 120 seats. At the same time, parties will have to contribute 1 million soms, candidates for single-seat districts — 100,000 soms.

Party lists will be closed, and one party can take 55 seats. There are no restrictions on seats for the political organization, as it was in the previous version of the Basic Law.
