Potatoes, vegetable oil rise in price most of all over past year

Prices for potatoes have increased by 70 percent and for vegetable oil — by 64 percent over the past year in Kyrgyzstan. Director of the State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation Shukhrat Sabirov announced today at a press conference.

According to him, price of sugar grew by 57 percent, meat — from 20 to 40 percent, eggs — by 34 percent. An increase in prices for fuel and lubricants was also registered in the last two months.

«I would like to note that prices did not rise for a month. It was a gradual growth over a period of 12-13 months. Monthly growth ranged from 3 to 5-6 percent. At the same time, the government decree 242 approved the rules for monitoring prices for socially significant goods. It indicates that state regulation is introduced when prices for certain goods rise by 20 percent or more within a month,» Shukhrat Sabirov said.
