PISA 2025 training center to open in Kyrgyzstan

A PISA 2025 training center will be opened at the Kyrgyz Academy of Education. It was announced at a meeting of the Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Beishenaliev with the staff of the academy.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Education, participants of the meeting discussed such issues and tasks as reorganization of the Kyrgyz Academy of Education, development of a basic curriculum and state standard for secondary schools, generalization of the Concept on the Development of Education, which need to be solved in the near future. The minister also noted that in the future, such topical issues should be resolved at the academy.

Following the results, Almazbek Beishenaliev gave a number of instructions to the academy:

  • Taking into account the concepts prepared by independent experts and the Kyrgyz Academy of Education, to develop a single concept within a month;
  • In order to prepare for PISA 2025, to open a PISA center as part of the Kyrgyz Academy of Education;
  • Establish a structure that will analyze the education field;
  • Within a week to make proposals for updating, reforming the academy.

The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a test that assesses the literacy of schoolchildren around the world and the ability to apply knowledge in practice. It takes place every three years.

Kyrgyzstan participated in PISA 2006 and PISA 2009, but took the last (57th and 65th) places. Then the republic refused to participate in this program.
