At the end of 2018, Osh city was declared the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2019. Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan told what events would be held in the southern capital.
According to the ministry, an official reception on behalf of the Osh city Mayor Taalaibek Sarybashov will take place today, on April 19. After it the guests of honor will watch the play Korkut Ata at the Osh National Drama Theater named after S. Ibraimov.
In the evening, honored residents and guests, local artists will begin to cook a festive dish — sumolok in the Youth park. The ministry notes that the purpose of the event is to acquaint with the customs and culture of the local peoples, for whom sumolok is important as a symbol of prosperity and well-being.
The Ethnic-cultural Festival of the Turkic world will begin its work on the city square on April 20. Guests will get acquainted with folk rites and traditions, ethnic music, fashion, cuisine. The sectors «Craftsmen’s Fair», «Poet’s Improvisation — Akyndaraityshy», and «Agricultural Fair» will work there.
As a part of the events, opening of the Kyrgyz-Turkish clinic and the international scientific-practical conference «Ancient Osh — Center of Civilizations» is planned.
In the evening, the festival «Culture of the Turkic Peoples on Sulaiman-Too» will be held in the ethnographic center «Alymbek Datka» at 17.00. Later, festive march will take place on Kurmanjan Datka Street.
The grand opening will take place at 20.00 on the stadium. A big holiday concert will be held there.
Events aimed at strengthening social and economic relations will take place on the 3rd day, in particular, the international business forum «Sulaiman-Too — Symbol of Peace and Harmony: Tourism Potential of Osh and Osh Region on Great Silk Road.»
At 16.00, residents and guests will be welcomed by the drama theater, where the International Festival of Ethnic Dances of the Turkic States and a gala concert of the participants of the international program «Osh — Cultural Capital of the Turkic World» will be held.
On April 22, the first ethnic festival will be held in Kara-Kuldzha.
«Guests will see the culture of the region, customs and traditions of local residents,» the ministry reported.
A similar event will take place in Jalal-Abad.
