2023 declared Year of Kyrgyz actress Baken Kydykeyeva – TURKSOY

The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) has declared 2023 the Year of the Kyrgyz actress Baken Kydykeyeva. Press service of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to it, the decision was made at a regular meeting of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY, which was held in Bursa (Turkey).

The Ministers of Culture of Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TURKPA) discussed large-scale events in the Turkic world that are planned for the coming year.

At the initiative of Kyrgyzstan, a unanimous decision was made to attach special importance to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Soviet and Kyrgyz theater and film actress Baken Kydykeyeva.

Baken Kydykeyeva was born on October 20, 1923 in Tokoldosh village.

She began her stage career at the Theater for Young Spectators in 1936 (Frunze). In 1941-1944, she was an actress at the Przhevalsky and Naryn regional theaters, since 1944 she was an actress at the Kyrgyz Academic Drama Theater.

She first came to the cinema at the age of 35. The most famous films with her participation are «The First Teacher», «Toktogul», «Mother’s Field», «Shot at Karash Pass», «Commissioner» and others. All these films were included in the golden fund of the Kyrgyz cinema.

In 1970, Baken Kydykeyeva was awarded the title of People’s Artist of the USSR. She is a Laureate of the State Prize named after Toktogul Satylganov.

She died on December 30, 1993 in Bishkek.
