160 heavy trucks wait in line at Ak-Tilek-Avtododrozhiy checkpoint

Number of heavy trucks at Ak-Tilek-Avtodorozhniy checkpoint has increased to 160. The State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic informed 24.kg news agency.

The situation has developed due to an increase in the time of inspection of vehicles, since heavy vehicles are subjected to more thorough inspection at the entrance to Kazakhstan. On average, the Kazakh side passes four to five trucks per hour. Kazakhstan explains the situation by the fight against smuggling of goods.

«Some drivers, who were not allowed to enter Kazakhstan after inspection, do not leave, but remain near the checkpoint also creating a queue,» the State Border Service stressed.

There are no crowds of people and vehicles at other checkpoints on Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan section of the state border.

«This is the only checkpoint that is equipped for heavy trucks. There are scales, X-ray and other equipment. Vehicles weighing up to 100 tons can cross the border at other checkpoints,» the State Border Service reported.

Accumulation of heavy trucks on Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan border has been observed for a week already.
