At least 216 criminal cases on tax evasion were initiated and investigated in 2018 in Kyrgyzstan, damage from which amounted to 1.3 billion soms. Prosecutor of the Department for Supervision over Operational and Investigative Activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office Kalys Belegenov told today at a press conference.
According to him, 46 cases were sent to court, 62 were terminated due to voluntary payment of tax duties. At the same time, 148,960 million soms were returned to the budget.
«In modern conditions, tax crime is one of the most dangerous types of economic crime. In addition to the lost profit into the budget, tax crimes inevitably entail growth of the shadow economy sector, as a result, strengthening of organized crime,» said Kalys Belegenov.
