Government of Kyrgyzstan promises tariff reform in energy industry

Power companies are in a deplorable state due to low tariffs. First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov told today at a meeting of SDPK parliamentary faction.

According to him, it is impossible to accomplish the tasks set without generating additional electricity.

«Consumption is growing. In order to reduce losses, distribution companies install smart meters. Prior to their installation, the losses reached 22.3 percent. By the end of 2018, they fell to 12 percent,» Kubatbek Boronov said.

He added that low tariffs and the lack of other sources of financing led to the fact that the companies turned out to be in a deplorable state.

«Therefore, we are forced to take loans. The cost of electricity is 1.40 soms. The government sets for itself a task to conduct a tariff reform,» Kubatbek Boronov told.
