Number of crimes against children increases in Kyrgyzstan

In 2018, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan registered 1,368 crimes against minors. Aslan Atabiev, the head of the Department for Countering Corruption, Supervision over Implementation of Laws in Social Sphere and Protection of the Rights of Children, told at a round table discussion.

According to him, the number of crimes committed against children is increasing annually.

«In 2017, about 1,107 crimes against children were registered in Kyrgyzstan, and in 2016 — 862. That is, in 2017, the number of such crimes increased by 28 percent, and in 2018 — by 24 percent. Most of the crimes are committed in Bishkek, Talas and Osh regions. This figure is reducing in Naryn, Jalal-Abad and Chui regions,» Aslan Atabiev said.
