Kyrgyz activist not allowed to attend UN Climate Change Conference in Poland

Eco-activist, head of MoveGreen organization, Maria Kolesnikova, was not allowed to enter Poland to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

Maria Kolesnikova posted on Facebook that she was detained in Warsaw, and after questioning and check, she was sent back with the phrase «threat to public safety.» Other 14 eco-activists from the region could not get to the conference for the same reason.

«I was going to participate in peaceful climate negotiations as an observer from the civil sector of Kyrgyzstan. This important event for the country passes unnoticed and underestimated both by the Kyrgyz society, by the journalists, and by the responsible environment protection agency. Meanwhile, the fate of millions of investments in the development of alternative energy sources in the republic is being determined there,» she posted.
