Bishkek Orthodox Church breaks off relations with Constantinople

The Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan eparchy supports the decision of the Russian Orthodox Church to break off relations with the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Website of the eparchy says.

«From now on, until the Patriarchate of Constantinople refuses the made anti-canonical decisions, it is impossible for all clergymen of the Russian Orthodox Church to serve with the cleric of the Constantinople church, and for the laity — to participate in the sacraments performed in its churches,» the message says.

The Russian Orthodox Church adopted a decision on the complete cessation of Eucharistic communion with the Patriarchate of Constantinople on October 15 in Minsk.

The conflict around the Ukrainian church began in the 1980s — 1990s, when a part of the Ukrainian parishes demanded independence and separated from the Russian Orthodox Church. This year, the Church of Constantinople launched the process of granting independence to the Ukrainian Church.
