The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) proposes to include mosques and churches in the list of objects of counter-terrorist protection. The draft resolution has been submitted for public discussion.
The SCNS proposes to expand the list of strategic objects for protection and include stadiums, markets, theaters, parks, schools, higher education institutions, hospitals and medical centers in the list.
The background statement to the document says that the main goal of organizing the counter-terrorist protection of facilities is to create conditions for eliminating the threat of terrorism acts.
«The project provides for measures to ensure the counter-terrorist protection of facilities, requirements for anti-terrorist equipment. So, in particular, engineering protection equipment, technical security equipment and physical security systems are used in accordance with the requirements for the mode of operation of strategic facilities,» the statement says.
The document also states that the managers and owners of buildings included in the list of objects of counter-terrorist protection are required to plan events in order to fulfill the requirements and pay for their implementation.
There are more than 2,000 mosques that have passed the necessary registration procedure and more than 200 churches in Kyrgyzstan.
