Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov met with the Bishop of Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan Daniil. Press service of the government reported.
The official noted that the state leadership attaches great importance to relations with the Russian Orthodox Church and considers Orthodoxy as one of the traditional religions in the country.
He asked the bishop about the news of the current life of the Orthodox community. Edil Baisalov expressed his serious concern about the facts of vandalism in cemeteries and assured that state bodies would respond to such cases to the fullest extent of the law.
Strengthening interfaith harmony and topical issues of interaction in the religious sphere were discussed during the meeting.
The parties discussed the upcoming interaction as part of the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God at the Holy Trinity Church in Karakol in the summer. Karakol city was declared the cultural capital of the CIS in 2022.
