There are a few reports from the civil society on the facts of pedophilia. A representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Marat Sapaev, stated at a round table discussion.
According to him, pedophiles are mostly detected by the police officers.
«They find children who have been physically assaulted during patrols. In such cases, we notify the authorized bodies. Strangers commit only 20 percent of sexual violence cases. In general, such crimes are committed by stepfathers, biological fathers or other relatives. Neighbors do not want to interfere in the privacy of other families, and therefore do not report the facts of violence against children,» said Marat Sapaev.
