Drivers of minibuses demand to raise tariffs

Drivers of minibuses hold a rally in Bishkek. Vice Mayor of the capital Gennady Militsky came to meet with the strikers.

The drivers voiced him their demands.

In particular, the drivers demand an increase in tariffs, reduction of fines, as well as permission to turn from the second lane.

«Public transport, that is, trolleybuses and buses, is allowed to turn from the second lane, and the minibuses can not do it. We want to be equated with trolleybuses and buses. We are also against the introduction of uniform vests for drivers. An average vest costs 750 soms. We demand to postpone introduction of a fine for absence of an insurance certificate until May 2018,» participants of the protest said.

Recall, minibus drivers do not serve their routes today. A transport collapse occurred in Bishkek. Vice Mayor Gennady Militsky called the protest ‘provocation.’
