The President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov laid flowers at the monument to the memory of those, who died for the people’s freedom during the Aksy events of 2002 and the April 2010 events, on Ala-Too Square. The Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration reported.
Earlier, in his address on the occasion of the Aksy Events Remembrance Day, the head of state recalled that in the history of sovereign Kyrgyzstan March 17 is celebrated as a date that marks the citizens opposition against family-authoritarian rule. On this day, tribute to the heroism and courage of the people, who died and were injured during the Aksy events, is paid. In the history of independent Kyrgyzstan, these tragic events are a symbol of the protection of democracy and statehood.
