Sooronbai Jeenbekov: People of Kyrgyzstan will not allow clan rule

«The proud and freedom-loving people of Kyrgyzstan will never allow a clan rule in the country,» the address of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sooronbai Jeenbekov, on the occasion of the day of memory of the Aksy events on March 17, 2002 says.

The head of state recalled that March 17 is celebrated in the history of the sovereign Kyrgyzstan as a date that marks the opposition of citizens against family-authoritarian rule. On this day, tribute is paid to the heroism and courage of the people who died and were injured during the Aksy events. In the history of independent Kyrgyzstan, these tragic events are a symbol of the protection of democracy and statehood.

«Aksy events are of profound historical significance in the development of the state. The people in fact proved that they are a true source of power and have an unbending will. These events awakened in the hearts of people a sense of patriotism and love for their country. They became the source of a nationwide struggle against injustice and lawlessness, served as a starting point for the two subsequent people’s revolutions. They showed that freedom and independence are the highest values ​​for our people, for which the people are ready to sacrifice even their lives,» the president stressed.

Sooronbai Jeenbekov noted that Kyrgyzstan has survived many severe tests during the years of independence. Dozens of compatriots sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of the country.

Deepest gratitude to the heroes of Aksy events! Their names are forever inscribed in gold letters in the history of sovereign Kyrgyzstan.
