Electric cars. Is Kyrgyzstan ready to use them?

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov got acquainted the project of introduction and use of electric vehicles and chargers for them. The head of the Institute of Nanotechnologies Zharasul Abduraimov told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, the main goal of the program is to improve the environmental situation in the country, reduce the oil and gas dependence of Kyrgyzstan from the exporting countries, create conditions for the development of alternative energy industry and the integration of electric transport means into the energy system.

According to the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry, the annual volume of emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere of Bishkek is 240,000 tons, cars with an internal combustion engine account for 180,000 tons. In total, there are 1.1 million vehicles in Kyrgyzstan. In 2017, they consumed 1.2 million tons of fuel.

There are only four electric cars in Kyrgyzstan.

«It is necessary to develop unified rules for the placement and operation of charging stations, including mandatory terms for their installation at filling stations, shopping malls, hospitality industry enterprises,» explained Zharasul Abduraimov.

As the Director of the State Agency for Environment and Forestry Abdykalyk Rustamov told 24.kg new agency earlier, Kyrgyzstan intends to apply to the Eurasian Economic Union regarding the introduction of zero rates for the import of electric vehicles.
