Russian citizen dies when climbing Lenin Peak in Kyrgyzstan

Krasnoyarsk climber Yuri Kurmachev died when trying to climb Lenin Peak in Kyrgyzstan. Russian media reported.

According to them, the 68-year-old athlete died on July 23 at an altitude of 6,100 meters. There is no exact information on causes of the tragedy. He had climbed the peak 8 times.

Yuri Kurmachev is an experienced athlete. In 1985, he got the title «Snow Leopard» for climbing all five seven thousandths peaks of the USSR. He planned to go into the mountains in the company of two more athletes aged above 60.
