Body of Iranian alpinist handed over to representatives of Embassy

The body of the climber who died at Lenin Peak was handed over to representatives of the Embassy of Iran in Kyrgyzstan. The press secretary of the Internal Affairs Directorate of Osh region, Zhenishbek Ashirbayev, told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, today, the forensic medical examination has established the cause of death.

«As it was previously reported, death occurred as a result of oxygen deficiency as a result of a decrease in the partial pressure of oxygen in the inspired air. The climbers were at an altitude of 6,600 meters. The body was handed over to the representatives of the Iranian diplomatic mission in Kyrgyzstan and to the colleagues of the mountaineer," Zhenishbek Ashirbayev said.

It is known that the mountaineer was born in 1968. On July 24, together with the group, he began climbing one of the highest peaks in the world — Lenin Peak. The accident occurred on July 31 in Chon-Alai district in Achik-Tash area. Rescuers managed to bring the body of the deceased down in the alpine camp on August 1.

Lenin Peak is one of the seven thousandths in the Pamir mountain system. It is located on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Its height is 7,134 meters above sea level. The first summit ascent took place in 1928.
