Six natives of Central Asia detained in St. Petersburg

Six natives of Central Asia were detained in St. Petersburg. They are suspected of aiding the terrorists. Russian media reported with reference to the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to the investigation, since November 2015, the suspects recruited immigrants from the republics of Central Asia to participate in the terrorist organizations Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic State on the territory of St. Petersburg.

Places of residence of the suspects are being searched at the time. The investigators confiscate Islamic extremist literature, items and documents relevant to the investigation of the criminal case.

The Investigative Committee noted that at the moment there is no information on the link and familiarity of detainees with the perpetrator of the explosion in St. Petersburg metro.
