Vladimir Putin invited to Kyrgyzstan to think about snow leopard conservation

The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Russia Bolot Otunbayev extended an invitation from the head of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev to the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for environmental protection, ecology and transport Sergey Ivanov to take part in the International Forum on Snow Leopard Conservation.

The Forum will take place on August 25. In addition to Putin, Bishkek is waiting for the heads of other 12 countries.

According to Bolot Otunbayev, participation of the President of the Russian Federation as a world-class leader, known for his attention to the preservation of nature and Red Book animals, in the Forum will attach a special significance to its holding.

The diplomatic mission assured Sergey Ivanov that Kyrgyzstan pays special attention to the conservation of wildlife on the planet, in particular the preservation of the snow leopard that is one of the symbols of Kyrgyzstan and has a sacred significance for the Kyrgyz people.

The World Forum on Snow Leopard Conservation took place in Kyrgyzstan on October 22-23, 2013. As a result of it, the Bishkek Declaration was adopted along with the Global Program for Conservation of the Snow Leopard and Its Ecosystems.

The goal of the program is to ensure sustainable development through the creation of 20 mountain landscapes of the snow leopard habitat by 2020.
