The banks of a mudflow channel in Chet-Bulak quarter of Batken are being strengthened. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The banks of the channel along which residential buildings are located are planted with saxaul seeds.
This plant has a deep root system and helps strengthen the soil, preventing erosion and sandstorms. It was planted on both sides of the mudflow channel over a distance of six kilometers.
Saxaul forms desert-tree thickets — the so-called saxaul forests. It is an important link of the ecosystem.
