The loan portfolio of the banking system of Kyrgyzstan increased by 16.7 percent in the first nine months of 2024, amounting to about 301 billion soms. Deputy Head of the National Bank Azat Kozubekov announced at a press conference in Bishkek.
According to him, the main driver of growth was the increase in lending in the national currency, where the growth reached 19.9 percent. The volume of the deposit base of banks amounted to 555.4 billion soms, having increased by 28.8 percent over this period.
Azat Kozubekov noted that such dynamics indicate a high level of public confidence in the country’s banking system and stable savings preferences.
He added that the situation on the foreign exchange market remains stable due to the preservation of the flexibility of the exchange rate within the framework of the floating rate regime. The exchange rate is formed on a market basis, depending on the supply and demand for foreign currency.
Recall, the National Bank decided to keep the discount rate at 9 percent.
