Deputy Elvira Surabaldieva stated at a meeting of Parliament of Kyrgyzstan that men are displeased with quotas for women in elections. According to her, they consider this unfair.
The MP proposes to set a percentage threshold for women instead of quotas, depending on the locality, for example, equal to 2,000-3,000 votes.
«And then truly active, strong women, professionals in their field, will take part in the elections. There are many of them,» she said.
