Head of the Macroeconomic Policy Department of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Abdekirov told on the air of Birinchi Radio about the improvements in the country’s economy over the past three years.
«A growth has been registered in the past three years. Capital investment has grown by more than 50 percent, the construction sector — by more than 32 percent. These are very large figures, which have not been seen for about 20-25 years,» he noted.
Almaz Abdekirov emphasized that such growth is associated not only with an increase in economic potential, but also with improved monitoring of statistics. For example, previously, the construction of houses took 5-6 years, and this data was not included in statistics for a long time. The process has become faster and more transparent now: information on the completion of construction is promptly transferred to the local government bodies.
The services and trade sectors are also showing impressive results. The head of the Macroeconomic Policy Department reported that the growth rate of services exceeds 10 percent, and trade — 20 percent. This is due to the increase in wages, pensions and overall demand.
According to him, there is also growth in the transport and tourism sectors due to cooperation between the state and business, which are developing infrastructure and information promotion. The real growth rate is about 6 percent in the transport sector, which is explained by the dominance of road transport compared to rail, which is not very developed in Kyrgyzstan.
