Sergei Volkov has been appointed acting rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU), and will take office on October 14, the university reported, citing the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
It is noted that the university faces large-scale tasks: updating educational programs, strengthening the material base and increasing management efficiency, as well as building a new campus of KRSU.
Sergei Volkov previously held leadership positions in the field of strategic development and economics, including being vice-rector for strategic development and economics at the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University.
On Tuesday, he will be officially introduced to the university staff as part of the Russian-Kyrgyz forum in the field of education.
It was previously reported that management of KRSU will be completely changed. The previous acting rector Denis Fomin-Nilov worked in this position for a little over a year — since September 12, 2023.
