The State Personnel Service, on the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers, has developed a draft law on the renaming of individual aiyl aimaks and villages in Batken, Naryn, Talas and Chui regions. The document has been submitted for public discussion.
As the state service explains, it is proposed to rename:
- Karl Marx village into Birimdik village, Eski Oochu village into Manas village (Ken-Talaa aiyl aimak);
- Communism village into Ak-Aryk village and Lenin village into Iskhak Razzakov village (Kulundu aiyl aimak);
- Andarak village into Ak-Tash village, Kek-Tash village into Kok-Tash village and Iskra village into Sumbula village (Sumbula aiyl aimak of Leilek district, Batken region);
- Osoaviakhim village into Moldo Kylych village (Cholpon aiyl aimak, Kochkor district, Naryn region);
- Kara-Sai village into Bakaiyr village (Amanbayev aiyl aimak, Aitmatov district, Talas region);
- Sadovoe village into Masymkan village (Chui aiyl aimak, Chui district, Chui region).
«Document is aimed at strengthening the national ideology and returning the villages their widely known names in the past and present. The decisions to rename the above-mentioned villages were made at meetings of residents of aiyl aimaks and villages, approved by decisions of the relevant rural councils, district state administrations and authorized representatives of the President in Batken, Naryn, Talas and Chui region,» the background statement says.
