The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev spoke at the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries at UN headquarters. Press service of the ministry reports.
In his address, the minister noted the completion of the Vienna Programme of Action for Landlocked Countries, highlighting its achievements over the past ten years and emphasized the importance of the upcoming adoption of the New Programme of Action for 2024-2034 with a focus on achieving sustainable development goals through promoting international trade, improving transit transport, developing entrepreneurship and infrastructure.
In this context, it is noted that the Kyrgyz Republic places great importance to projects such as «China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan» railway, which is strategic for the bringing Kyrgyzstan to international trade routes.
The need for an integrated approach to environmental challenges was also emphasized, highlighting the implementation of the decisions of the recent sessions of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Climate Change Conferences (COP27 and COP28) and promotion of Kyrgyzstan’s initiative on «Mountains and Climate» at the upcoming COP29 conference.
In conclusion, Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev stressed the importance of further collaboration and partnership in adopting and implementing of the New Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries for 2024-2034.
