Kyrgyzstan invites China to consider construction of a hydropower plant (HPP) in the country, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
According to it, Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev, together with a Kyrgyz delegation, visited the world’s largest hydropower station Three Gorges, located in the Hubei Province of the People’s Republic of China.
The delegation included Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev, heads and specialists of relevant government agencies, including the Directorate of Power Plants Under Construction, and Electric Stations OJSC.
Chinese power industry specialists told about the work of Three Gorges hydropower station. This is the largest HPS in the world, located on Yangtze River. The total capacity of the HPS is 22,250 megawatts. The height of the dam is 185 meters, the length is 2.3 kilometers.
The parties discussed current issues of Kyrgyzstan — China cooperation in the field of hydropower, after which the Chinese side was invited to visit Kyrgyzstan and consider the possibility of building a hydropower plant in the country.
