WNG: Kyrgyzstan’s Kok Boru Federation considers refereeing at kokpar unfair

After the end of the World Nomad Games 2024, where the team of Kyrgyzstan lost to Kazakhstan in kokpar with a score 5:4, representatives of the Kok Boru Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic made a statement about unfair refereeing.

According to the federation expert Ramis Kudaibergenov, the Kyrgyz side agreed to all the conditions of the Kazakhs, but they systematically violated the rules, and the referees ignored it.

«In the capital of Kazakhstan, where the most intelligent part of the country gathered, we did not get a fair decision from them. We reviewed the replay of the match and are confident that we would have defeated the Kazakh team with a score 5:1, if all the violations had been taken into account,» he noted.

The head of the federation Ramis Dzhunusaliev told about the possibility of creating an international refereeing commission to prevent such situations in the future. «Currently, kokpar is judged by Kazakhs, and kok boru by Kyrgyz. This is an established tradition, but in the future, international refereeing commissions need to be formed,» he said.

Recall, a scuffle occurred in the final of kokpar (zher ulak) tournament at the World Nomad Games in Astana (Kazakhstan), the match was suspended. At the 13th minute of the first half, the Kyrgyzstanis made the score 3:1 in their favor. A player from Kazakhstan, Ulan Baitoreyev, hit a player from the Kyrgyz Republic team, Kubanychbek Sultan uulu, with a whip. A scuffle broke out after that.
