Winner of Silk Road Mountain Race announced

The extreme Silk Road Mountain Race, which started on August 17, has ended in Cholpon-Ata city. Cyclist Joe Nation became the winner, having reached the finish first in 6 days 18 hours 10 minutes.

«He made his move at the entrance to Kochkor, overtaking Tom Schwemberger on the asphalt of Dolon pass. He increased the pace and was able to overtake Tom, who was riding around Shamshi. One last dash through Kok-Ayryk pass, and he reached Cholpon-Ata first,» the organizers reported.

The Silk Road Mountain Race is a multi-day endurance mountain cycling race. The route changes every year, but the specifics remain — it runs along mountain paths and old roads.

Recall, the participant from Germany dedicated his race to children with cancer in Kyrgyzstan. Patrick Mayerle from Ravensburg participated in the Silk Road Mountain Race in the country. Together with the charity organization Umai — Hilfe für Kirgistan e.V (Stuttgart, Germany) and Pomogat Legko Foundation (KR), it is planned to raise money for medicines for children.
