International Silk Road Mountain Race starts in Osh city

Silk Road Mountain Race has started in Osh city. At least 163 athletes from 40 countries participate in it.

Silk Road Mountain Race is an international cycling race that has been held in Kyrgyzstan since 2018. Its initiator is a cyclist Nelson Trees, who in 2013 traveled from Shanghai to Paris on a tandem bike with his friend. The route ran through Kyrgyzstan. In 2017, he initiated the first cycling race in Kyrgyzstan with the aim of showing the international cycling community the beauty of the country’s nature.

This year the route was laid through Dzhiptik pass, Arslanbob, Kazarman, Naryn, Tamga, the southern coast of Issyk-Kul, Son-Kol lake, Tosor pass. The cycling race will end in Bishkek.

Length of the route is 1,830 kilometers, the main part of which runs through mountainous terrain and passes. Nine sportsmen represent Kyrgyzstan at the race.
