Kyrgyzstan lacks over 1,300 teachers

According to data as of August 20, 2024, general education organizations in Kyrgyzstan lack over 1,300 teachers in various school subjects. The Ministry of Education and Science informed 24.kg news agency.

According to the ministry, the largest shortage of personnel is in Bishkek (493). There is also a serious shortage of teachers in Chui (292), Batken (137), Jalal-Abad (110) and Issyk-Kul (115) regions. The situation is better in Naryn (17), Talas (71) and Osh (58) regions and Osh city (42).

The largest shortage of teachers is in schools with Russian as the language of instruction, especially in mathematics, Russian and English languages, computer science, and physics.

The ministry reported that from August 15, 2024 they began to hire young teachers in schools through distribution carried out directly by secondary and higher professional educational organizations.

Exact personnel shortage figures by regions and districts will be available closer to September 1.

District and city education departments and schools are also working on recruitment of teachers for vacant positions.
