Doctors from Qatar will perform free cochlear implant surgeries at the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare in Bishkek. The press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.
According to it, selection of patients has begun and will last until September 20.
Children under five years old with bilateral deafness, bilateral sensorineural hearing loss of the fourth degree and postlingual deafness are accepted for participation. Before the surgery, they must undergo a comprehensive examination and a medical commission.
Patients can apply to the National Center from Monday to Friday from 12.00 to 4 p.m. to the ENT doctor’s office (building 8, 1st floor), having with them the results of previous examinations.
The surgeries will begin on October 24 and will be performed by a group of otolaryngologists from Qatar.
«These operations will be performed thanks to a memorandum signed between the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of Qatar. The Qatari side will cover all costs for the purchase of cochlear implants, surgeries, and training of Kyrgyz surgeons and auxiliary medical staff,» the ministry added.
More than 160 operations have been performed at the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare since 2020.
