Man detained for extortion of $3,000 from citizen of China

A man, who hid behind connections in the State Committee for National Security and extorted money from a Chinese citizen, was detained. The press center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCNS) reported.

The man was detained while taking $3,000.

The investigators established that some man, hiding behind the names of SCNS officers, extorted money from a foreigner for a favorable decision in a criminal case pending before the SCNS. The suspect managed to receive $18,000 from the foreigner and demanded $3,000 more.

The detainee was placed in the temporary detention center. Security officers are establishing the identities of other people involved in this crime.
