Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov held a meeting on elimination of the consequences of mudflows in Nookat district of Osh region. His press service reported.
During the meeting, Minister of Emergency Situations Boobek Azhikeyev and Minister of Transport and Communications Tilek Tekebayev reported on the current situation.
According to Boobek Azhikeyev, 236 mudflows were registered from April 20 to July 1 this year, the damage from which amounted to more than 170 million soms.
The Minister of Transport and Communications said that as a result of the mudflows, several kilometers of roads were damaged, as well as nine bridges, one of which was completely destroyed.
Akylbek Japarov emphasized the importance of taking preventive measures and preparedness for possible mudflows. He pointed out the need to step up monitoring of dangerous areas and ensure the readiness of services to quickly respond to possible emergencies.
In addition, specific measures for prevention of mudflows were discussed, including the construction of protective structures, strengthening of river banks, installation of monitoring and early warning systems. Japarov instructed to step up the coordination of the actions of relevant departments and authorities in the event of mudflows.
The head of the Cabinet emphasized the importance of informing the population about the risks associated with mudflows and about safety measures in case of an emergency. He noted that the quality of the measures taken directly affects the safety of life and well-being of citizens.
Mudflows occurred in Nookat district of Osh region on June 28, leading to the death of people. Due to heavy rains, mudflows flooded dozens of courtyards and damaged bridges, roads and power lines. An emergency situation has been declared in the district.
