Mudflows in Nookat: All victims are members of one family

All ten people, who died as a result of a mudflow in Nookat district of Osh region, are members of the same family. Azizbek Shamuratov, head of Kok-Zhar ayil okmotu, told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, the natural disaster claimed the lives of the wife, children, grandson, nephews and cousins ​​of Daniyar Myrzaliev, a resident of Borbash village.

On the day of the tragedy, Daniyar Myrzaliev’s wife, their three sons and a grandson decided to go to Abshyr-Ata. One of the sons was driving. There were also five relatives of Daniyar Myrzaliev in the car, four of them were citizens of Kazakhstan.

Azizbek Shamuratov notes that the car with ten people inside was swept away by the mudflow. The bodies of the people were found not far from the car.

The head of the aiyl okmotu told that no one so far has approached him with a statement about the disappearance of a loved one. He added that the wind, which occurred shortly before the mudflow, blew away the roof of a kindergarten, a clinic and a community center. Then the mud mass covered the courtyards of houses, farmland and destroyed three bridges of republican significance. Irrigation canals were damaged. The total damage, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 20 million soms.

Local residents are asking for bulldozers, as loaders are unable to clear agricultural land.

Mudflows occurred in Nookat district of Osh region on June 28, leading to the death of people. Due to heavy rains, mudflows flooded dozens of courtyards and damaged bridges, roads and power lines. An emergency situation has been declared in the district.

On June 30, four people died during a mudflow in Kara-Kuldzha district of Osh region. They are all members of the same family.
