Kyrgyz som is expected to weaken in the medium term. The Macroeconomic Outlook of the Eurasian Development Bank says.
In the base scenario, EDB analysts predict the som exchange rate at 88-91 in 2024.
«This will be partly facilitated by the foreign exchange policy of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, aimed at smoothing out sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate,» the EDB notes.
In the long term, the effect of fundamental factors will cause depreciation of som by approximately 3 percent per year.
As a result, in 2025 the Kyrgyz som to U.S. dollar exchange rate will be on average 92.6 soms, in 2026 — 94.9 soms.
