Health Minister meets with foreign students of Kyrgyz State Medical Academy

Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev met with foreign students of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy. The press center of the ministry reported.

They discussed topical issues related to education, safety and health of students.

The Cabinet of Ministers is taking measures to ensure the safety of all citizens, including foreign students, and guarantees them access to quality medical care, the minister stressed.

Alymkadyr Beishenaliev assured the students that the situation is under control and there is no danger to their health and safety. He also noted the importance of continuing the educational process of foreign students in Kyrgyzstan and expressed confidence in cooperation between universities and students to achieve common goals in the field of medical education.

In turn, foreign students expressed their gratitude to the minister for his support and assistance.

A spontaneous protest against foreigners, which began in the evening of May 17 in Bishkek, ended only in the morning of May 18. The police managed to come to an agreement with the protesters, and they opened Chui Avenue, and dispersed a little later. According to the Ministry of Health, 41 victims sought medical help as a result of the mass brawl with foreigners in Bishkek.

Following a fight on May 13 in a hostel, which was one of the reasons for the protests, the police detained four citizens of Egypt; they were later placed under house arrest. A criminal case was initiated under the article «Hooliganism» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The suspects in the attack on foreign citizens in the hostel on Ogonbaev Street were detained.
