Pregnant foreign women need to purchase a Compulsory Medical Insurance certificate for medical observation and childbirth in Kyrgyzstan. The Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund reported.
It is noted that the 113 hotline of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund receives numerous calls from pregnant citizens of other countries planning to give birth in the country.
The Compulsory Medical Insurance gives pregnant women the right to receive medical care on terms similar to those of insured citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In particular, the Family Medicine Centers provide the following services:
- Registration and pregnancy follow-up;
- Registration of an «Individual card of a pregnant women» and keeping of a «Prenatal record»;
- Consultations with specialists, basic (12 types) and additional tests (48), ultrasound examination;
- Injections in a day hospital (without providing medicines, syringes, systems);
- A discount of up to 50 percent on discounted drugs.
In addition, the Compulsory Medical Insurance covers hospitalization and medical support for childbirth, including cesarean section and anesthesia, provision of essential medicines and medical products necessary for childbirth and treatment. A birth certificate is also issued free of charge.
To receive the aforementioned benefits, it is important to:
- Get a PIN at a Public Service Center (PSC);
- Pay for Compulsory Medical Insurance certificate;
- Register with a family doctor at your place of residence with a passport and register your pregnancy.
The Compulsory Medical Insurance certificate can be purchased through terminals, mobile applications, and in banks in Kyrgyzstan. It is important to remember that the certificate comes into force five calendar days after the date of purchase and is valid throughout the republic.
In the absence of the Compulsory Medical Insurance certificate, foreigners pay for all medical services, including pregnancy and childbirth, at the rates set for foreign citizens (according to the government decree «On medical care for foreign citizens»).
The Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund encourages foreigners to promptly obtain the Compulsory Medical Insurance certificates for a comfortable and safe period of pregnancy and childbirth in the Kyrgyz Republic.
