Investigative and operational measures were carried out throughout Chui region related to the work of pawn shops. The press center of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) reported.
During the inspection, more than 40 pawn shops were checked for licensing documents, requirements for collateral and the legality of the origin of money.
«Based on the results of the inspection, pawn shops were instructed to reduce interest rates to a minimum and not exceed the threshold rate of 20 percent, taking into account all penalties,» the statement says.
Operational search activities to detect pawnshops violating the law continue.
The day before, the head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev, demanded from security forces to pay special attention to the activities of pawn shops as one of the last major tasks of 2023. He noted that ordinary people use the services of pawn shops that issue money in form of loans with high interest rates, and lose their housing and property.
