Cabinet of Ministers to engage in attracting investments in beginning of 2024

«The first 100 days of 2024 will be devoted to work on attracting investments in the country,» Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov said at a meeting of the Investment Council under the Cabinet of Ministers.

The meeting participants discussed mechanisms of interaction between government agencies and entrepreneurs. Representatives of government agencies, development funds, state banks and business community took part in the Investment Council meeting. The issues concerning amendments to the law on limiting the turnover of plastic film bags and plastic products on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, as well as proposals for a new version of the law on investments were considered.

The results and further plans for the development of public-private partnership in Kyrgyzstan were discussed. According to the plan of implementation of public-private partnership projects for 2022-2023, at least 24 projects have been implemented. In 2024 it is planned to implement 40 projects.

Akylbek Japarov urged to work on real ideas in the issues of attracting investments to Kyrgyzstan, and not only to make changes and additions to the existing normative legal acts.

«In January next year, we will review the work of all the country’s development funds, state development banks and council members. We are waiting for them to report on their work, on evidence-based investment attraction projects for the coming years. And we just make additions and amendments to investment-related laws, but no real changes take place. Now we will go the other way. We create an interdepartmental commission and involve the relevant programs. In the first 100 days of 2024 we will carry out work related to attracting investment,» Akylbek Japarov said.

It should be noted that the meetings related to attracting investments in the state will be held on a permanent basis starting from the next year.
