Power outages possible in Kyrgyzstan in winter

Power outages are possible this winter, if transformers need to be rebooted. Energy Minister of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev announced at a press conference.

According to him, November turned out to be warm, which made it possible to prepare for the coming winter.

«Periodically we need to reboot the transformers, usually it takes an hour, an hour and a half. If the transformer substation is near our facility, then we can manage it in half an hour,» the minister noted.

Compared to last year, as Taalaibek Ibraev said, 500 million cubic meters of water were saved in the Toktogul reservoir.

This is due to warm weather and additional imports of electricity.

«We currently consume 58 million kilowatts of electricity. According to forecasts, we expected 11 billion cubic meters of water in Toktogul reservoir, at the moment there are 11,345 billion cubic meters,» the head of the Ministry of Energy said.
