Employees of the Institute of Ombudsman visited the arrested woman in the pre-trial detention center on November 18 to monitor the conditions of detention.
It is reported that when Gulzhan Sheripbaeva saw the institute’s employees, she burst into tears and complained that she was under stress. «She asked to tell her family that she needed a private lawyer — during the investigative actions she was provided with a state lawyer. She also said that she did not agree with the charges.
She did not complain about the conditions of detention. There are three other women in the cell together with her, who also have no previous convictions. She also didn’t complain about her health; she didn’t need any medications. According to Sheripbaeva, she is very worried about what happened,» the statement says.
A criminal case was opened against her under the article «Incitement of racial, ethnic, national, religious, interregional hostility (discord)» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
By the decision of the investigating judge of the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek, she was placed in the pre-trial detention center 1 until January 15, 2024.
