MP opposes increase of public transport fare to 20 soms

Deputy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Marlen Mamataliev is against increasing the fare from 11 to 20 soms. He said this at a parliamentary session.

According to him, the City Hall cites the experience of European countries as an argument.

«I would like to note that the average salary of Europeans is 250,000 soms, and ours is 25,000 soms. How can they compare with them? In order not to raise fares, we demanded to buy buses with electric motors or gas. But if they raise fares, let them raise them from 11 to 15 soms. But it is wrong to rise them to 20 soms and make 25 soms at night,» Marlen Mamataliev said.

The Bishkek City Hall proposes to raise fares for public transportation up to 20 soms. The draft resolution of the Bishkek City Council is posted on the official website of the City Hall. It is proposed to set a single tariff for all types of transport: buses, minibuses and trolleybuses, regardless of ownership.
