President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov congratulated the personnel of the joint Russian military airbase in Kant on the 20th anniversary. The press service of the head of state reported.
He believes that the decision to include the airbase in the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the Central Asian Collective Security Region made it possible to significantly increase the potential of the CSTO and organize further work on the consistent formation of a collective security system that meets current threats.
Sadyr Japarov stressed that the opening of the airbase was a necessary and timely measure.
He stated that as a component of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Collective Security Region, the Russian airbase successfully solves problems and is a deterrent to the terrorist and extremist threat in the region.
«In general, the opening of the airbase served as a good basis for building up military and military-technical cooperation, including the formation of a solid regulatory framework and the establishment of sustainable mechanisms for military interaction. Today, the uninterrupted functioning of the joint Russian military base, including its aviation component, has been ensured. Over the 20-year period, significant joint work has been done to develop infrastructure, build up the combat component and create social and living conditions for its personnel,» Sadyr Japarov concluded.
The celebration took place on the territory of Ala-Archa state residence. Initially, it was planned that all events would take place on the territory of the airbase in Kant and the Russian President Vladimir Putin would visit the airbase.
