The XVII International Documentary Film Festival on Human Rights Bir Duino — Kyrgyzstan — 2023 will be held in Bishkek from November 27 to December 1. Bir Duino — Kyrgyzstan Human Rights Center reported.
According to the organizers, the festival provides a platform for discussing the documentary truth in the field of human rights, attracting documentarians and experts, local communities and international ones, with the innovative format «Human Rights through Art».
In addition to screenings of documentaries, there will be discussions, round tables and workshops to discuss the situation in the field of human rights in mountain countries and develop practical recommendations for further joint advocacy activities.
The competition program of the festival is represented by films for freedom, dignity, justice and equal participation of citizens in decision-making processes. At least 25 documentaries have been announced, including 11 foreign and 14 national ones.
The festival will be held together with a partner network of human rights defenders, women’s and environmental organizations from around the world and with the involvement of children and youth.
